Sometimes when you apply for Stitch Pay Later, or before approving a larger purchase on Extend, we'll ask for proof of income, like a recent payslip or bank statement. Here's why, and what to send.
Why we ask
As a registered credit provider in South Africa, Stitch is required to confirm that any Pay Later plan we offer you is affordable. For most purchases, this is done in the background using credit-bureau data. For larger plans, or where the data is incomplete, we may ask you to upload supporting documents.
What to send
The most common documents are:
- A recent payslip (last 3 months)
- A recent bank statement showing salary deposits (last 3 months)
- If self-employed, a letter from your accountant or recent business bank statements
Documents should be clear, legible, and in PDF or image format. Stitch handles all uploaded documents in line with our Privacy Policy.
How long it takes
Once you've uploaded what we asked for, verification is usually completed within 24 hours. We'll notify you of the outcome as soon as the review is done.
If you can't provide what's requested
If you can't supply the requested documents, your Pay Later application or larger-purchase request may not be approved. You can still use Stitch for purchases within your existing approved limit.
